1. Obituary. PLATTEVILLE, Wis. - Dale L. Rawson, 81, of Platteville, died Friday, May 28, 1999, at Southwest Health Center hospital, Platteville.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville, with the Rev. JoAnn Post officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville, where graveside military rites will be accorded by the Platteville American Legion Post. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Bendorf Funeral Home, Platteville.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1917, in Lima Township, son of Richard and Ella (Siemers) Rawson.
He married Betty J. Shepherd on Dec. 27, 1937, in Dubuque. They farmed near Platteville for 43 years. During that time, he also worked at the VC Fertilizer Plant in Dubuque for 21 years.
He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Leo M. Kane American Legion Post 42 of Platteville. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church and served on the church council. He also was a member of the former Franklin School Board, Lima Township Board, Grant County Board of Supervisors and the Platteville Elks Lodge 1460. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Betty, of Platteville; six children, Linda (Ed) Schelman, of Beloit, Mary Williams, of Madison, Roger (Carrie) Rawson, of Monroe, Susan (Earl) Shoemaker, of Overland Park, Kan., Cathryn (Dennis) Gronbeck, of Parachute, Colo., and Thomas (Carla) Rawson, of Richland Center; 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carol (Harlan) Rupp, of Tucson, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Zeta Edge and Janet Lyght; and three brothers, James, in infancy, Harold and Richard Rawson
