Said to have been a capt of a small cargo vessel plying alo ng the Conn. River and Long Island Sound. He met Thankfu l at Lyme, Conn while she was visiting her uncle Capt Josep h Higgins who had a wharf and warehouse there. He did no t marry her. She took him to court in Aug. 1739 at Saybroo k.
