Said to have been a capt of a small cargo vessel plying alo ng the Conn. River and Long Island Sound. He met Thankfu l at Lyme, Conn while she was visiting her uncle Capt Josep h Higgins who had a wharf and warehouse there. He did no t marry her. She took him to court in Aug. 1739 at Saybroo k.

William married Thankful Higgins, daughter of Beriah Higgins and Desire Cooke. (Thankful Higgins was born on 17 Aug 1717 in Truro, MA, died on 16 Mar 1792 in Hartland, CT and was buried in Hartland, CT, East Hartland Cemetery.)
