Helen E. Cronick, 90, of Tomah, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 5, 2010 in Tomah. She was born March 22, 1919 to Milo and Edna (Gordon) Gordon in Chetek, WI. She graduated from the Chetek High School. Helen was united in marriage to Theodore Cronick on Sept. 29, 1944 in Minnesota. In her earlier years, Helen worked at the Grygleski Cranberry Marsh as a berry sorter. She then worked as a dietary aide at the Tomah Veterans Hospital for 7 years and later as a house mother for the Schaller Group Home in Tomah. Helen enjoyed traveling with her family, reading, crocheting and crafts, playing cards, bingo and the "slots". She also enjoyed spending time in her flower garden. Helen most precious times were spent with her loving family, she was an especially proud grandmother and great-grandmother and enjoyed the times they spent together. She was a faithful and devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She was also member of the Valley Junction Homemakers, the Tomah Memorial Auxiliary, the Historical Society and the "Cheers Group"
She is survived by 4 children, Frances (Arthur)Baldwin of Tomah, Jeffrey (Karen) Cronick of Sparta, Kathleen Cronick of Racine and Jeanne (Bernie) Gottung of Eau Claire, 13 grandchildren, Christine Baldwin (special friend Steve), Patricia (Todd) Marten, Dennis (Kelly) Baldwin, Ranee Mauer, Eric Cronick, Bridget Lamb (special friend Brent), Kelly Lamb, Ryan Schumacher, Cole Schumacher, Sara Schumacher, Marina Gottung, Brian (Amanda) Baldwin and Stacy Schmidt, 18 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Ted, an infant son, David,8 brothers, Don, Milo, Jack, Tom, Royal, Richard, Robert and George, and a sister Gladys Thalacker.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2010, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 303 W. Monroe Street, Tomah. The Very Reverend Steven J. Kachel will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Chetek, WI. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday at the church from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service. The Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
