1. Obituary. It is with deep sympathy that we share the passing of Lawrence Allen Winterle on January 17, 2024 at the age 77.

He graduated Lutheran High School in 1964. Larry worked at Western Publishing from1964, retiring in 2001 as a 2nd Pressman working 3rd shift. He enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1965. Completed the U.S. Navel School, Electrician's Mate, Class A in June of 1967. Served active duty 1967-1969 on the LSMR Navy vessel with his brother Wally (Vietnam and Japan).

He married Catherine at St. John's Lutheran on November 7, 1970.

Survived by daughters Brady (James) Hutsick and Sara (LeRoy) Stewart, siblings Bud, Richard, Donald, Robert (Birgit), Margaret and Walter, niece (honorary daughter) Melissa (Jerry) Caraballo, brother in laws, Ritcher (Sharon) Schneider, Ronald (Deborah) Scheinder, grandchildren Mason and Myles Bongiovanni, Caitlin and Michayla Hutsick, Aaron, Zachary and Paige Stewart.

Preceded in death, parents Reinhardt and Meta (nee:Schlei), his wife Catherine (Schneider), Clarence and Joyce (Matson) Schneider, brothers Harold and Reinhardt Winterle, brother in laws Randolph Scheider, Jerry Merrill, sister in laws, Marline, Claris, Anne, and Betty-Jo Winterle.

Famously known for his handle-bar mustache. He was a hard worker who provided so much for his family. He took his family on many adventures such as camping trips, ski trips to Colorado, a trip to Florida, family reunions at the Tetons and Glacier National Park. Larry enjoyed watching college football, basketball and car races. He loved scrabble and word puzzles. Larry and his wife Cathy would host fish boils, yard parties, and fancy home dinners for their friends. They had a camping group that the family always went camping with several times a summer for years. He continued to get together with the camping group even though they have not camped in over 30 years. Larry always had a story about his time in the Navy. He was notorious for turning any discussion back to a navy story. Anyone who knew Larry, knew he was hard of hearing. Conversations were very interesting at times and often one sided. He was a Hallmark fanatic. The ladies at the store always took care of him and his long orders. Larry and Cathy had the best time with family. The countless trips to Vegas with Rick and Sharron, The cruise with Randy and Madonna, and the trips to Oregon to see Ron and Deb. Larry and his brother Wally had a special relationship. They were best friends. They helped each other with projects, hung out, and somehow kept each other in line. Larry would do anything for his daughters. When they were little he would walk them to the bus stop every morning for school, take them on long bike rides, visits to the zoo and park. Larry made sure his girls had a faith based education by sending them to St John's, Prince Of Peace, and Carthage. He was the best grandpa. The kids had the best time at Grandpa's Daycare. He taught them how to ride their bikes. He took them to the zoo, parks, and the library. Larry was their biggest fan and cheerleader for their sporting events. He chauffeured them around for all their appointments. He adored them all and beamed with pride and joy. Larry is now reunited with the love of his life, Cathy.

Lawrence married Catherine M Schneider, daughter of Clarence Schneider and Joyce Matson, on 7 Nov 1970. (Catherine M Schneider was born on 27 Oct 1950, died on 9 Jan 2014 and was buried in Union Grove, WI, Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.)
