• Obituary. Carol Lynn Kingery, 63, of Durand, IL died 12:30 p.m., Monday, May 13, 2019 in her home after a two year illness.
Born January 3, 1956 in DuPage County, IL, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Vi (Stigvils) Bland. Lived 63 years in Northern Illinois, coming here from Colorado. Graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Married Reverend Thomas Kingery in Villa Park, IL on August 4, 1979. She was employed as a teacher in various school districts in northern Illinois. She has been a member of Wilmington First UMC, Pecatonica UMC, Harlem UMC, Rockton UMC, Galena UMC, Plano UMC and Brookville-Elkhorn UMC.
Carol loved the Word of God, talking about faith and scriptures, reading the Bible and Christian books. Her faith was an inspiration to many especially her husband Tom, who is the preacher at The Church by the Side of the Road. Her posture at the end of her earthly journey is with Paul in Philippians Chapter 1:21, "For me, to live is Christ, to die is gain."
Special thanks to the hospice staff of Mercy Health at Home, particularly her nurse Stephanie Reineke, her aide Kathy Fritzpatrick and from Tom, her husband, "It was a privilege to be there to take care of Carol."
Survivors include husband, Thomas Kingery, Durand, IL; son Tim (Jen) Kingery and their children Zachery and Valerie Kingery, all of Deerfield, IL; daughter Emily (Grant) Tietjen, Davenport, IA; mother Vi Bland, Venice, FL; sisters Sue (Dave) Vogt, Genoa City, WI, Diane Michel, Vernon Hills, IL and Kathy (Mike) Cucci, Cumming, GA; brother Tom Bland, Phoenix, AZ and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert.
Memorial ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 18, 2019 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL with Reverend Mark Gilmore and Chaplain Randy Heinzeroth co-officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. to time of ceremonies on Saturday. McCorkle Funeral Home- Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL assisted the family.
A memorial has been established to Wheels for the World.
