Obituary
Nola C. Slaughter, age 96 of Black River Falls, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi.

Nola was born on March 4, 1922 in Crandon, WI to William and Clara Bailey. She married Rex Slaughter on August 26, 1948, in the town of Knapp, Jackson County. They first lived in Orfordville, then Plymouth and Newark, WI. In 1965, they moved to the Merrillan area.

She taught in the rural schools early in her teaching career. In 1965 she started teaching in the Alma Center School District. Over all, Nola taught students for 40 years and she was a substitute teacher another 20 years.

Nola was a feisty, but playful and fun loving person who loved gardening, fishing, reading, bird watching, playing board games, music, knitting and embroidering. She was a member of Pine Hill Church of Christ and was very involved in the WCYC - Wisconsin Christian Youth Camp.

She is survived by her son Arthur of Eau Claire; granddaughters: Jeannine Ann Black of Madison, Erin Marie Slaughter and Carrie Rose Slaughter, both of Eau Claire; great-grandchildren: Zoey, Avery, Inara, Fiona, Alexander and Isaac.

Preceding her in death is her husband Rex on July 20, 2004; parents; 6 brothers: Benjamin, Rob, Roy, Ralph, Phillip and William Bailey; and a sister Mildred Steele.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday, December 28, 2018 at Buswell Funeral Home, 106 S. 2nd St., Black River Falls. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Nola married Rex Edward Slaughter, son of Frank Slaughter and Josephine Parker, on 26 Aug 1948 in Knapp Township, Jackson County, WI. (Rex Edward Slaughter was born on 13 Aug 1924 in Viola, WI, died on 20 Jul 2004 in Black River Falls, WI and was buried in Warrens, WI, Warren Mills Cemetery.)
