1. Obituary. Joan Wood, age 61, of LaFarge, died on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. She was born at home in Warrens on May 7, 1946, the daughter of Rohland and Viola (Degler) Parker. Joan was united in marriage with James Wood on May 5, 1989, in LaFarge. They enjoyed camping together, especially in the Warrens area. Above all, Joan was a loving wife, mother and friend.

Survivors include: Her loving husband, James Wood of LaFarge; her mother-in-law, Doris Wood of Viroqua; children Corlene (Ken) Wood of Humbird, Scott (Kathy) Dittner of Elkhorn, Bruce (Kellie) Dittner of LaFarge, Sarah Dittner and Mark Hostetler of Bozeman, MT; stepsons, Eric (Jennifer) Wood of Lyndon Station and Brian (Tammy) Wood of Kendall; grandchildren Derek, Ty and Jordy Martin and Zack Wood, Steven, Christopher, Lukus and Jessica Dittner, Joshua, Jacob and Megan Dittner, Mason Copper, Alex and Dylan Wood, Jacob, Hailee, and Samantha Wood; one great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Martin; and her brother, Larry Parker of Humbird.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson Nathan, great-grandson Tyson, and her son-in-law Randy Martin.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Seland Huston Funeral Home. Bonita Dorscheid officiated and burial was in the Bear Creek Cemetery. Friends called at the Seland Huston Funeral Home on Monday, Aug. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. or on Tuesday from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. The Seland Huston Funeral Home of LaFarge assisted the family with their arrangements.
