1. Obituary. This Bubla child, a strong boy, a heavenly son of God, briefly given to his parents with love for a just a short time was born in 1920 and was taken quickly in the same year in the township of Big Flats, Wisconsin. He was the third son born to Michal (Marie Hluchanova) Bubla (originally from Nová Dubnica, Trencín, Slovakia). His brave and daring parents immigrated to the United States in 1910-1912 and became American citizens in 1917. They were fiercely proud of their Bohemian and Slovak roots. His father Michal came first to join a cousin already living in Chicago. Michal worked as a blacksmith at the McCormick Corporation (later became International Harvester). After two years of living in the Bohemian community in Chicago, and living in a boarding home on Thorpe Street in Chicago, Michal he sent for his lovely bride Marie and their six year old daughter Marie, known as Mary). They joined him in Chicago. As money was saved from the work ethic that came from the Bubla heritage, and as territory opened up north, the government in Wisconsin gave large tracts of land to those who could settle it for farming. Thus began the journey to Big Flats, Wisconsin by Michal, Marie, daughter Marie, and two little children, John and Michael, who were born in Chicago. This baby's father, Michal Bubla was from Pesti, Austro\endash Hungarian Empire and his mother Maria Hluchanova Bublova was from Nová Dubnica, Trencín, Slovakia of which the following family members were eventually: Born before this Baby Bubla child: Valeria Bublova, Skalska Nova Ves, Slovakia; Marie Emma Bublova (Louis Rezabek), Adams, WI; John Bubla (Lucretia Mae Griffin), Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and Michael Rudolph Bubla (Helen Mae Kucera), Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Born after this Baby Boy Bubla, was Charles Carl Bubla (Evelyn Lorraine Streeter), Big Flats, and Frank Bubla, Big Flats, WI. Baby Boy Bubla was born before Charles and after young Michael. He was the first son of the Bubla family to be born in Big Flats. His parents were members of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Adams all of their remaining lives. During their youth, his brothers would help out on the farm which is the site of the old Pony Express in Big Flats on Highway 13, 14 miles south of Friendship, WI. To this day, the land is still owned by the sons of Charles Bubla, a son of Michal. Baby Boy Bubla can be proud that three of his brothers (John, Michael and Charles) served their country in the U.S. Armed Forces. Baby Boy Bubla's father also served his former country in the Hungarian Armed Forces. Moreover, of those original brothers, two nephews Dennis Lee Bubla and Timothy Alvin Bubla served their country, and thereafter, a grand niece and grand nephew served their country (James Waylon Bubla and Amanda Weona Bubla), carrying on the pride and patriotism that originally brought the Bubla family to the United States. Baby Boy Bubla was reunited with his mother Marie Hluchanova Bublova in 1945 when God called her home after a four day sickness. To provide another mother for the remaining children, Baby Boy Bubla's father married Roza Vacvalova Bakovka, who sacrificed all to become a loving step-mother to the remaining Bubla clan, still deeply missing their beloved mother. |
