From the Wisconsin State Journal, Thursday, December 6, 1945:
Funeral services for William M. Rindlaub, 82, who died at his home in Platteville Wednesday, after a long illness, was to be held at 3 p.m. today in thehome on Bayley Ave. The Rev. H.C. Culver was to officiate. The body will be placed in the Rindlaub mausoleum in Greenwood Cemetery. The Thomas funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rindlaub was born at Warren, Ill, and came with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. M.P. Rindlaub, to Platteville when a child. He spent his life in the newspaper business. He became assistant editor of the Platteville Witness in 1895, editor and business manager in 1900, and owner and publisher in 1902, succeeding his father, also a veteran newspaper man. He continued in the business till 1938 when he retired because of failing health.
Mr. Rindlaub was a member of the Methodist church, of Melody Lodge F. and A.M. to which he belonged 56 years, and a member of the Consistory and shrine 43 years.
Survivors are his wife, Mary; two sons, John, Platteville and William, Bradford, Pa.; three sisters, Dr. Elizabeth P. Rindlaub and Mrs. John D. Wooledge, both of Fargo, N.D., and Mrs. John H. Robertson, Platteville, and one brother, Dr. John H. Rindlaub, Fargo., ND.
