1. Obituary. Dale Washington Peck, 86, died in Klamath Falls at the home of his daughter on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, of natural causes.
Mr. Peck was born on Feb. 22, 1924, in Missouri to Elmer Newton "Charley" Peck and Maude (Cottrell) Peck.
He was raised in California near Happy Camp.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was part of the D-Day Invasion at Normandy. He was in the Battle of the Bulge in Patton's 3rd Army, becoming a prisoner of war.
He was married in 1946 at Reno, Nev., to Jeweldeen Pitts of Malin, Ore. She preceded him in death in April 1974 at Merrill, Ore.
Mr. Peck worked as a Tulelake farmer with Haynes & Walden Farms for about 40 years. He enjoyed farming, playing guitar, singing, dogs, television, football and reading.
Survivors include his companion, Dora Lamb of Tulelake; his son, Dale Lee Peck of Missouri; his daughter, Sue Hutchison of McMinnville, Ore.; his daughter and son-in-law, Marcella H. Michel Benjamins Jr. of Klamath Falls; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
Viewing will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, 2680 Memorial Drive, Klamath Falls, Ore. Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 23, 2010, at the same location. Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd, directors now at 2680 Memorial Drive, Klamath Falls, Ore., 541-883-3458, is in charge of the arrangements.
