1. Miscellaneous. s/o Thomas Coo

Held estates of the Manor of Overhall in Gestingthorpe whic manor was under the jurisdiction of the Honour of Clare [a great feudal barony]. He died in the later part of 1520. His will dated 3 Sept 1520, probated 14 Feb 1520-11, directs that his body be buried in Gestingthopre Church, and over it to be laid a marble grave-stone with and inscribed brass tablet set in same. "He was the last member of the Gestingthorpe family who was Catholic. The brass effigies of John and Joane said to have been torn out and destroyed during Cromwell's time in churches all over England with the idea of destroying all evidence of ancient Catholic superstitions.". The will makes bequests to wife Joane, and to her son Thomas Sewall and Rose his wife, also to Joane Fyrmyn [Firmin], Agnes Coo and Alice Coo, daughters of testor. ref: Robert Coe Puritan by Joseph Gardner Barlett 1911 Named as "John Coo"
