Alma Masuhr

  Noted events in her life were:

1. Obituary. Grant County Herald, December 9, 1914, Potosi News:
Mrs. Peter Udelhoven, aged twenty-two years, died at her home near Upper Boice Creek last Wednesday. She leaves her husband and three small children. She had been sick a while back and was in a fair way to recovery when a relapse set in which terminated her life, knowing that death was near she desired to die a Catholic and asked for a priest. Father Sheffer was summoned to her bed side and administered to her the sacraments of the Catholic church. She had been baptized in infancy. The funeral took place Friday morning from the home to St. Andrew's Catholic church and was largely attended. Requiem mass was celebrated by Father Sheffer and the interment was made in the new cemetery. Mr. Udelhoven has the heartfelt sympathy of the entire public.

Alma's three children were Nettie Ritter, Jesse Udelhoven, and Mamie (Dressler) Marshall. All three can be found in findagrave.com.

Alma was the daughter of Fred and Adena (Duedoir sp?) Masuhr. They lived in Dubuque, Iowa. When her mother died, her father put her and her two sisters, Gertrude Janssen and Margaret Beaumont, in an orphanage. Alma was adopted by a Flitch family. When she died, her half-sister, Mary Masuhr, married Alma's husband, Peter Udelhoven.

Note: According to Alma's death certificate, she was 23 years, 5 months, 25 days old. She died from general peritonitis. The contributing factor was a miscarriage one month before her death.

Alma married Peter J Udelhoven, son of Jacob Udelhoven and Eva Barbara Schmidt. (Peter J Udelhoven was born in 1890, died in 1958 and was buried in Lancaster, WI, St Clements Catholic Cemetery.)
