In this marriage they had one son, John Icilius King who was born near Platteville, Wisconsin on November 13, 1848. In April of 1849 her husband departed for California during the Gold Rush. Weeks after he arrived at the Negro Bar Mining Camp, along the American River in California, he died in an accident on January 1, 1850.
She married her husband's cousin Harvey H. Jones in Grant County, Wisconsin on March 5, 1851.
