1. Miscellaneous. Johanna was the daughter of Henry and Charlotte Fravin Korsmeir. She was born in Germany and immigrated with her parents when a young girl. She married William Freemont Burkholder on October 19, 1892 in Harrison Twp, Grant Co, WI. They had nine children; Henry, Arthur, Robert, Willis, Lester, Victor, Leta, Francis and Franklin. The last two were twins.

MRS. J. BURKHOLDER DIED TUESDAY

Mrs. Johanna M. Burkholder, 74, passed away at a local hospital on Tuesday following a brief illness,

Funeral services will be held at the Karrmann Funeral Home on Friday at 2:00 p. m. , the Rev. H. C. Culver, Pastor of First Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Petty cemetery in Harrison township in the spring.

Born in Germany, Mrs. Burkholder came to this country when a small child. The family lived in Platteville for about a year before moving to a farm west of the city where she has lived ever since. She had come to the home of her son Arthur in Platteville about a week before she was taken to the hospital.

Survivors include seven sons, Arthur, Robert, Willis, Lester, Victor, Francis and Franklin, all of Platteville, one daughter, Mrs. Leta Shiffman of Buchanan, Michigan; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Johanna married William Harrison Freemont Burkholder, son of David Burkholder and Catherine Klindings, on 19 Oct 1892. (William Harrison Freemont Burkholder was born on 12 Feb 1862 and was buried in Platteville, WI, Harrison Cemetery.)
