When George Washington Ray was born on 18 November 1800, in Vermont, United States, his father, John Rea, was 27 and his mother, Betsy Langdell, was 21. He married Lucinda Lamb in 1820, in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Ellenboro, Grant, Wisconsin, United States in 1860. He died on 18 February 1870, in Bridgeport, Crawford, Wisconsin, United States, at the age of 69, and was buried in Bridgeport Cemetery, Prairie du Chien, Crawford, Wisconsin, United States.
