PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Burton R. Nodorft, 94, of Platteville, died Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2009, at Southwest Health Center Nursing Home, Cuba City.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Big Patch Methodist Church, Platteville, with the Rev. Paul Glendenning officiating. Burial will be in Big Patch Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. The Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on Oct. 21, 1914, in Cornelia, son of William and Florence (Gillilian) Nodorft. He married Maxine Corlett on Aug. 11, 1938; she preceded him in death on Oct. 9, 1992.
Burton was owner of Nodorft Livestock and Trucking for many years, prior to handing that business to his three sons. He always enjoyed going to and working on his farm on the Little Platte River. He began operating B&B Service Station, Platteville, in the mid-1960s, which is still in operation today. He met and made a lot of friends in all aspects in life. He enjoyed watching baseball, the Cubs and Wisconsin basketball. He was an exceptional tinker, fixing up old farm machinery and old trucks. He loved working with his hands and could always find a way to fix something that needed repair. He also was a dog lover. Burton was a loving husband and father to his family.
Surviving are three sons, Douglas (Sharon) Nodorft, Thomas Nodorft and Robert (Tarrie) Nodorft, all of Platteville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Irma and Shirley Nodorft, both of Platteville.
He also was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, William, George and Donald; and several cousins.
Burton married Maxine Elizabeth Corlett. (Maxine Elizabeth Corlett was born on 11 Mar 1920 and was buried in Plattevile, WI, Big Patch Cemetery.)
