PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Edward H. Stark, 92, of Platteville, died Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009, at ManorCare Health Services, Platteville.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, at Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, with the Rev. Mike Short officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call after 11 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

He was born on April 13, 1917, in Harrison Township, Grant County, son of Harry and Nellie (Morris) Stark. He married Mabel Bennett on Jan. 12, 1939, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Dubuque.

Edward farmed in rural Cuba City and later in Harrison Township, Grant County, for many years.

He was a leader for many years of 4-H groups, Cuba City Merry Mixers and Jolly Platters in Harrison Township.

Edward enjoyed fishing, his Ford vehicles and John Deere.

Surviving are his wife, Mabel, of Platteville; three children, Darlene (Charles) Jentz, of Platteville, LeRoy E. (Jan Meyers) Stark, and Joyce (Gary) Borgmann, both of Freeport, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a stepgrandchild; two stepgreat-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Adickes, of Platteville, Mary VanDerah, of Belvedere, Ill., and Doris Edge, of Garden Prairie, Ill.; sisters-in-law, Betty Stark, of Galena, Ill., Mildred Loomis, of Platteville, and Carol Bennett, of Maquoketa, Iowa; and a brother-in-law, Clarence (JoAnne) Bennett, of Benton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Kevin Kerr; a great-grandson, Alexander Kerr; a brother, Donald Stark; and sister, Beth Fitzsimmons.

Edward married Mabel E Bennett, daughter of Richard Bennett and Harriet Ann Birkett. (Mabel E Bennett was born on 30 Aug 1919 and was buried in Platteville, WI, Greenwood Cemetery.)
