1. Obituary. John W. Margan, 95, of Platteville, passed away on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. Fr. John Blewett and Deacon Bill Bussan will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 \endash 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a parish rosary at 3:45 p.m. Friends may also call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.

Memorials may be made to the John Margan Memorial Fund.

John was born on October 5, 1923 in Potosi, Wisconsin, the son of William and Josephine (Langkamp) Margan. He was united in marriage to Dolores Vondra on December 29, 1943 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. She preceded him in death on May 7, 2007.

John was a lifelong farmer. He also worked for B & W Milling, Platteville, and hauled milk for Walther's Dairy, Platteville. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, bowling, playing euchre, 500, and hearts. He was an avid Badgers and Packer fan. John was known for his brownies he made for family gatherings. The most important thing to John was his love of his family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

John is survived by nine children, Marilyn (Don) Hastert, David Margan, Patricia (fiance, Bob Weier) Moxness, Richard (Sandy) Margan, Janice (Doug) Steinback, Nancy (Wayne) Steger, Barbara (Beanie) Margan, Karen (Al) Wagner, and Lisa (Tim) Peacock; 21 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ambrose Margan and Paul (Barb) Margan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores; parents; sons-in-law, Tom Shilliam, Tim Moxness and Chuck Martell; grandson, Brent Alan Margan, sisters; Carol Margan, Margaret Heffron, and Mary Abing, brothers; Leo and Ralph Margan.

John married Delores M Vondra, daughter of Vondra and Maude Mae Deiter. (Delores M Vondra was born on 16 Aug 1924 and was buried in Platteville, WI, Calvary Cemetery.)
