PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -- Dale A. Brown, 52, of Platteville, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2011, at home, with his loving family by his side, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 10, at the Platteville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Brenda K. Whitford officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, at Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Friends also may call after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.

He was born on March 3, 1959, in Cuba City, son of Robert and Joyce (Thousand) Brown. Dale enjoyed driving a semi all over the country through the years with his wife, Judy, until she lost her battle with cancer in January.

Dale drove for Hayes Transport, Verona, for many years and later for Foodliner, of Dubuque.

He married Judy on Sept. 15, 1984, in Elk Point, S.D.

Dale was a loving family man who enjoyed spending days at the lake, fishing, cookouts, watching NASCAR races and Westerns.

Surviving are his mother, Joyce Brown, of Cuba City; four daughters, Julie (Wesley) Suddeth, of Fennimore, Debra (Mark) Henry, of Platteville, Jodi (Josh) Fitzsimons, of Darlington, and Denise (Rodney Phend) Dobson, of Platteville; seven grandchildren, Ashley (Noah) Jenkins, Marcus Henry, Bryanna (Adam Kieler) Dobson, Shania Dobson, Harlie Turnquist, Stormie Morrissey and Joseph Phend; two great-grandchildren, Colie and Gabe Jenkins; two sisters, Connie Johnson, of Alamogordo, N.M., and Lanita (Gary) Gillett, of Shirland, Ill.; four brothers, Don (Carol) Brown, of Lanark, Ill., Richard (Lori) Brown, of Platteville, David (Kathy Becker) Brown, of Cuba City, and Duane (Gina) Brown, of Dickeyville; and many nieces and nephews.

Dale married Judith A Shepherd, daughter of Wilbur Dean Shepherd and Helen E Warne. (Judith A Shepherd was born on 30 Dec 1944 and was buried in Platteville, WI, Hillside Cemetery.)
