Earl W. Gehrke

Earl W. Gehrke, 50, rural Lancaster, died Sunday, March 21, 1982, at his family farm.
Gehrke was born in Ellenboro Township August 2, 1931, the son of Walter and Florence Gehrke. He attended Buckwheat Ridge school and Platteville High School, and graduated in 1949. He was united in marriage September 28, 1949, to Joyce Kopp. They farmed in Ellenboro Township until 1974, when he became manager of the Platte River Co-op for ten years. For the past two years he owned and operated Southwest Farm Systems. He was a member of the Lima Union Church, vice president of Swiss Valley Farms, a member of the Dairy Division Board of the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives, and a voting delegate for the National Milk Federation.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce; two sons, Melvin and Steve, both of Lancaster; four grandchildren; one brother, Harlan, Platteville; and one sister, Mrs. Belva (Earl) Moon, Platteville.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 24 at 11 a.m. at the Mergen Funeral Home, Platteville, with the Rev. Dan Biddick officiating. Burial was held in the Union Cemetery.

Earl married Joyce Ann Kopp, daughter of Melvin John David Kopp and Nellie J Derr. (Joyce Ann Kopp was born on 25 Apr 1930.)
