1. Obituary. Albert Brendemuehl, one of the thrifty retired farmers of Grant County, died on Sunday evening at his home on South Elm Street after a short but severe illness.
Albert Otto Brendemuehl was born in Germany on March 8, 1854. He came to this country in 1872 when he was 18 years old and lived in Grant County ever since.

Immediately upon his arrival he found employment on farms in Liberty township. He married Margaret Weisbenner on Jan. 15, 1884. With his young wife he established his first home on a farm in Little Grant where he farmed successfully for 35 years. In December, 1918, he moved to Lancaster and for over ten years appreciated the privilege of a quiet, carefree life in his newly established comfortable city home.

His marriage was blessed with four sons and four daughters. One daughter and two sons preceded him in death, one of the latter ten years ago as a victim of the world war.
Mr. Brendemuehl was one of the founders of the union church in Little Grant. For many years he served as secretary and treasurer of the organization and as a faithful leader in Sunday school. As long as he lived in Lancaster he was a member of Bethlehem Evangelical church. He was blessed with a fine constitution, enjoyed splendid health all his life and was never confined to a sick-bed until Thursday evening of last week. He began ailing several months ago. His ailment became more aggravated about a week before his death, but he was up and about until only a few days before his death which was accelerated by bronchial pneumonia and occured on Sunday evening, June 30. He reached the age of 75 years, 3 months and 25 days, and his sudden departure is mourned by his wife, two sons and three daughters, Mrs. Adolph Wenzel of Little Grant; Fred Brendemuehl, Little Grant; Mrs. Chas. Block, Lancaster; Mrs. Ora Welsh, Little Grant; Emil Brendemuehl, Lancaster; 18 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Albert married Margaret Weisbenner in 1884. (Margaret Weisbenner was born on 8 Mar 1864 and was buried in bloomington, WI, Little Grant Union Cemetery.)
