1. Obituary. William Fred Rickert, 78, of Tomah, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at Hillview Nursing Home in La Crosse. He was born Oct. 25, 1928, to William and Lillian (Will) Rickert in Chicago, IL. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Utz on Feb. 6, 1982. at Bethel Baptist Church, Camp Douglas. He drove bus for the City of Milwaukee. He worked for Ready-Mix Cement Trucking and the Milwaukee Railroad. William worked in housekeeping at the VA Medical Center and after retirement he was a school crossing guard.

He is survived by his children, Debbie (Stuart) Belcher of Hendersonville, NC, Thomas R. (Darlene) Tupper of La Crosse, Dixie (Dean) Sowle of Viroqua, Robert A. (Vicki) Tupper of Tomah, Rae Jean Rickert of Alaska, Sandra (Gary) Frei of Camp Douglas, Diana (Monte) Smith of Ontario, Tammy Cichon of Wausau, Candy (Randy) DePietro of Acworth, GA, William (Desiree) Rickert of Onalaska, Bryan Diamond of Milwaukee, David (Jackie) Rickert of St. Paul, MN, Suzanne Rickert of Warrens, Samuel Rickert of La Crosse, Sarah Rickert of Tomah; 34 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; a brother, Pastor Raymond J. Rickert of Xenia, OH; a sister, Joan Lang of Woodridge, VA; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen; a daughter, Terry Tupper; two great-grandchildren, Hope and Elijah Tupper; and a sister-in-law, Alice Rickert.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 2, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, rural Camp Douglas. Pastor Raymond J. Rickert will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery, in the Town of Tomah. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau St., Tomah, and at Bethel Baptist Church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of the service.
