Adean was born in Cuba City, WI, the daughter of Nicholas and Cora (Kendall) Murray.

She married James Kennedy on April 7, 1972 in Dubuque, IA.

She was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church.

Adean and her husband Jim were founders of the Food Pantry at the Dubuque Rescue Mission.

She was a foster parent for many years. Adean was a devoted homemaker, who loved her children, grandchildren, and family. She had a heart for everyone she met, and was known for her legendary honeycomb pudding.

Adean also enjoyed bowling and camping in her younger years.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, James Kennedy (who passed 2013) of Bernard, her sons, Gary (Sheila), and Robert, both of Dubuque, William (KaNan) of Roy, UT, and Clarence of Maquoketa; a special daughter, Debbie of Dubuque; eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Pat (Nancy) of Cuba City, WI; and special friends, Paul and Brenda of Davenport, Bill and Karen and Betty Schwartz all of Dubuque.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Daniel Hartshorn; her grandchildren, Kari Ann and Christopher Runde; her sisters, Agnes Powell, Gloria Vaughn, and Ella Peart; and her brothers, Doug, William, Donnie, Joe, Mark, Glen, Kendall, and Nick.
