Rose Marie Runde, 83, of Dubuque, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Oak Park Place.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 25 at Church of the Resurrection. Rev. Joseph Hauer will officiate. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Hoffmann Schneider & Kitchen Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3860 Asbury Road, Dubuque, where there will be a prayer service at 3:00 p.m.

Rose was born July 23, 1931 in Monona, IA, the daughter of Frank and Martha (Igenfeldt) Knitsch. She married the love of her life, Gerald R. Runde Sr. on February 15, 1969 in Galena, IL. He preceded her in death on May 21, 2012.

Rose graduated from Dubuque Senior High School with the class of 1949, and went on to graduate from Dubuque Beauty Academy. She was employed as a beauty operator for 42 years, was employed at The Hair Studio, and owned and operated Tender Touch Beauty Salon. She was a member of Church of the Resurrection. Rose had a special devotion to the rosary.

She and her husband were members of the Dubuque Eagles Club. Rose enjoyed socializing with friends and family, and playing cards, especially euchre and solitaire. She was an avid Cubs fan. Rose and Jerry went everywhere together, and she especially loved taking rides with him along the river.

Surviving are three step-sons, Gary R. (Sheila) Runde of Bernard, and Robert J. Runde, Michelle Hafke and Gerald R. (Robin) Runde, both of Dubuque; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; her brothers in law, Joseph (Karen) Runde; and her sisters in law, Mabel Bass, Jeanne (Chuck) Allen, and Rosemary Brodbeck.

In addition to her husband, Rose was preceded in death by her parents; two grandchildren, Christopher Cannon-Runde and Kari Ann Runde; one brother, George Knitsch; three sisters, Wanda (Willard) Blume, Hilda (Roland) Blume, and Meta (Lester) Hill; one sister in law, Alice Runde; and one brother in law, Donald Brodbeck.

Rose's family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of Dubuque.

Rose married Gerald Robert Runde, son of Robert Bernard Runde and Theresa Frisa Salwolke. (Gerald Robert Runde was born on 30 May 1930 and was buried in Dubuque, IA, Linwood Cemetery.)
