1. Obituary. Clyde Leroy Butson, 79, of Hazel Green, formerly of Platteville, entered his heavenly home on April 30, 2015. Leukemia took his life but not his spirit. A Celebration of Clyde's life will be Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Wood Shelter in Smith Park, Platteville, located on Ridge Ave. There will be a picnic luncheon at noon with a time of remembrance to follow at 2:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Clyde L. Butson Memorial Fund. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Clyde was born on April 26, 1936, the son of Jesse and Ina (Craven) Butson. He was united in marriage to Calista Noggle on October 1, 1979 at the United Methodist Church, East Dubuque. Clyde was a kind and gentle, caring man. He farmed for 22 years in Harrison Township. After retiring from farming, he and Calista enjoyed the many trips, while driving semi for Freymiller Trucking, and all of the beautiful sights they were able to see. Clyde also was an avid tractor puller for 40 years. He also enjoyed Nascar and Indy Car Racing. Clyde is survived by his wife of 35 years, Calista Butson; children, Jay (Marsha) Butson; Perry (Robin) Butson; Dee (Dan) Anderson; Stacy (Nancy) Butson; and Regina Clark; twelve grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Stanton; Edna Relic; and Ila McKee. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-daughter, Colleen Avenarius; great-grandson, Aaron LeRoy Schramm; sister, Betty Baker; mother-in-law, Izetta Walker. The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses that cared for Clyde, especially, Dr. Schultheis and Traci, from Hospice of Dubuque.
Clyde married Calista Noggle on 1 Oct 1979.
