Catherine R. Waldsmith, 62, of 2237 Burton St., Beloit, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, Dec. 31, 1994 at Beloit Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct. 5, 1932, in Elwood, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Laura LeMay Byers. She married Arnold J. Waldsmith on July 28, 1953, in Beloit. He died Nov. 27, 1971. She was employed in the shipping department of Freeman Shoes, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Free Methodist Church and the Moose Club. Catherine was dearly loved by her family and will be deeply missed by them and all who knew her. She is survived by her three beloved daughters, Sharon (Art) Garcia of Beaver Dam, Laurie Waldsmith-Niehoff of Fond du Lac, and Sally (Dave) Soravia; two brothers, Robert (Dina) Byers of Fond du Lac and Ralph (Jacqueline) Byers of Janesville; two sisters, Evelyn (Arnold) Sloniker and Clara (James) McFall of Beloit; and two stepsisters, Nadine (Orville) Polzin of Beloit and Yvonne Paris of Rockford. She is also survived by special friends Joe and Betty Brunelle of Beloit, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She was predeceased by her parents, stepmother Bertha Byers, and stepfather George Hammond. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 1995, at Rosman Uehling Kinzer Funeral Home, 1125 Cranston Road, Beloit, with the Rev. David Burton officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial will be established at a later date.
