Josiah Daniel
1. Miscellaneous. I am quit sure in 1866 when Josiah Daniel, built his log cabin home along the Big Sandy, he no thoughts of his old log cabin home to become A fixter along side the Woodson County Museum. It has done just that as it now stands along side the woodson county historical society, in Yates Center, Kansas. Like so many other settlers out on the fronteer the log cabin was the strongest, most durable, and yes the most practical for the time. Josiah was born in 1828 in Shelby County, IL. his grandfather Josiah Daniel Sr. was building one of the first cabins in Shelbyville, that same year (1828). Josiah married Laura Stilson McFall, daughter of George McFall and Elizabeth Augustine, in 1876. (Laura Stilson McFall was born on 4 Oct 1831, died in 1908 and was buried in Alix, Canada, Alix Cemetery.) |
