Elizabeth Beth Doescher

• Obituary. Belmont, Wis.- Mrs. Beth Borcherding, 81, of Belmont, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 1997, at the Southwest Health Center Nursing Home, Cuba City. Services will be on Saturday at the Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. Burial will be in the Belmont Cemetery. She was born on Dec. 30, 1915, in Platteville, daughter of Frank and Ethel (Smith) Doescher. She married Henry Borcherding Jr. She and her husband operated the family farm near Belmont. He died on May 2, 1968.

She graduated from the former Platteville Normal School and taught in area rural schools for a time. The family farm that she and her husband operated was designated as a Century Farm in 1996. She enjoyed gardening, growing flowers, and traveled at home and abroad with Tri State Tours. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont.

Surviving are 11 children, Paul (Carley) Borcherding, of Platteville, Kent (Jane) Borcherding of Hazel Green, Gary Borcherding of Darlington, Lynn Borcherding of Belmont, Joan Maug of Berlin, Robert Borcherding of Prairie du Chien, Burl (Rhonda) Borcherding of Davenport, Iowa, Jill Borcherding of Madison, Jeff (Coleen) Borcherding of Lake Mills, Brig Borcherding of Mount Horeb, and Ted (Pam) Borcherding of Lancaster, 17 grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and two sisters, Dorthea (Alfred) Henschel of Dubuque and Virginia Nondorf of Dodgeville.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, twin grandchildren, Orley and Elizabeth Borcherding, in May 1964, and six brothers and sisters, Donald, Frank Jr., Stanley, William and Robert Doescher, and Ruth Leonard.

Elizabeth married Henry H Borcherding Jr, son of Heinrich D Borcherding and Sophie Amande, in 1938. (Henry H Borcherding Jr was born in 1908 and was buried in Belmont, WI, Belmont Cemetery.)
