Services for Harold Gahart
80, of Libertyville, will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, 1997, at the Burnett-Dane Funeral Home, 120 West Park Ave., Libertyville.
Born July 14, 1916, in Platteville, Wis., he passed away Saturday, April 12, 1997, at the Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Interment will be in Willow Lawn Memorial Park, Mundelein.
He had been a Libertyville resident for the past 54 years, and the owner of a Libertyville trucking company, originally known as Libertyville Cartage and later named Hart's Terminal and Cartage. He began his trucking career with one truck, delivering milk and later freight to local factories, as he built what is now a large family business expanding throughout northern Illinois. He was a World War II Army veteran. He was also an avid horseman, owning and showing horses, and at one time, ta king care of the horses on the Cuneo property in Libertyville, then known as Hawthorn Melody Farm.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lucille (Nee Nicholson) Gahart of Libertyville; his children, Arlene Alvin of Green Lake, Wis., Ronald (Cathleen) Gahart of Green Oaks, Ill., Grace (Bill) Ralston of Osage Beach, Mo., Dennis (Kathryn) Gahart of Libertyville, LuAnn (Ronald) Kinney and Carl Gahart, both of Grayslake, and Donna Price of Dubuque, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Olive Gahart; his son, Charles in 1994; his brothers Lloyd and Laverne Gahart; and his sister, Ethel Mish.
Friends of the family may CALL the funeral home from 4 to 9 p.m., Tuesday.
