1. Obituary. Jane Zimmerman, age 86, of Rice Lake, WI, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Heritage Manor in Rice Lake.
She was born on June 6, 1923 in Rice Lake to Lloyd and Florence (Mills) Fredrickson. Jane entered the United States Navy and served during World War II. In the service she worked for the Post Office including the Fleet Post Office in New York City and the Base Post Office at the Navy Yard in Philadelphia. Jane was married to Harold Zimmerman on June 15, 1946 in Rice Lake and later worked as a Telephone Operator. She loved doing ceramics at the Senior Center, embroidering, quilting, baking and cooking. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. Jane was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Jane Zimmerman is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen & Scott Hickok and Mary Jo & Ed Janisin all of Rice Lake, WI and Janet & Larry Boumeester of Cameron, WI; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, John & Sheila Zimmerman of Burnsville, MN, James & Diane Zimmerman of Janesville, WI, Paul & Irene Zimmerman of Eau Claire, WI and Peter & Sage Zimmerman of Elkhorn, WI; 20 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Harold Zimmerman on June 24, 1998; her parents, Lloyd and Florence Fredrickson and a sister, Mary Ritzinger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rice Lake, Father James Powers officiating, with interment in St. Joseph Cemetery where Military Rites will be accorded by the Rice Lake Veterans Center Honor Guard. Friends may call from 4 - 7 PM Tuesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake and for 1 hour prior to the funeral at the Church. There will be a Wake Service at 6:45 PM Tuesday at Appleyard's Home for Funerals.
Jane married Harold Albert Zimmerman, son of Phillip George Zimmerman and Mary Agnes Scheu, on 15 Jun 1946 in Rice Lake WI, St Joseph's Church. (Harold Albert Zimmerman was born on 28 Dec 1922 in Rice Lake, WI and died on 24 Jun 1998.)
