Left Germany April 27, 1833. Arrived Baltimore June 27, 18 33. A shoemaker in Germany. Worked in the mines at Galena , Ill. and Hazel Green, Wis. When crossing the ocean, th e ship started to sink and he threw his stock of shoes ove rboard. Left with 3 pairs of odds. Lived for four years i n Chambersburg, Pa. before went to Columbiana , Ohio. Cam e to Benton, Wis about 1848. Then to farm on Grant Rive r about 1858. Then to Pleasant Ridge - 5 miles west of Lan caster.
Johann married Mary Christina Basler about 1837 in Columbiana, OH. (Mary Christina Basler was born on 24 Jan 1819 in Germany and died on 22 Feb 1892 in Beetown Twn, WI.)
