1. Obituary. Robert J. Phillips, age 80,of Monroe, died Monday,June 19, 2006 at his home. He was born on June 5, 1926 in Orangeville,IL the son of Arthur LeRoy and Golda ( Dahms )Phillips. Robert married Wilma L. Tackett and later married Dorothy Olson - Trickel on July 18, 1976 in South Wayne on the family farm. He farmed in the South Wayne area for 25 years; was in sales for Gartland Brothers;
ran Phillips auto garage in Woodford for 8 years and later was custodian for Monroe High School for 7 years. He was a member of thev church of the Nazarene and also enjoyed fishing.
He served in WWII Army. He is survived by his wife Dorothy; 2 sons Kevin (Melissa) phillips, Monroe, and Thomas (Ellen)Phillips, South Wayne; 4 daughters Deborah ( Jeff) Meyer Browntown,Charlotte (Darell)Bendorf, Harvard,IL,Nancy (Kevin) Curran Browntown, Neva (Keith)Berg, Tulsa OK; a brother donald (Lela) Phillips, Lena IL;
4 stepchildren, Rhonda Trickel, Janesville, Ellen (Thomas) Phillps, South Wayne, Timothy (Susan)Trickel, Beloit, and Glen Trickel, New York; 20 grandchildren and 16 great - grandchildren . He was preceded in death by parents, brother Irvin, grandson Bryan Lofgren. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 1:oo P.M. at the church of the Nazarene. Pastors Jerry Holmes, Kevin Cernek and Allen Zierke Officiating. Burial will be in East Wiota Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday,June 21, 2006 from 4:oo to 7:00 P.M. at Shriner - Hager - Gohlke
Funeral Home. A memorial fund will be established in Robert's name.

Robert married Wilma L Tackett, daughter of Theodore Roosevelt Tackett and Frances Lola Ethridge, on 13 Dec 1947. The marriage ended in divorce. (Wilma L Tackett was born on 11 Dec 1931, died on 23 Jan 2021 and was buried in Monroe, WI, Greenwood Cemetery.)
