Noted events in her life were: • Obituary. Lenore "Leni" (Payne) Brown, 77 of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, July 24th 2020, at her home with her family. She was born a middle child of 6 children. She met her best friend, Sandy, in high school. They were inseparable and were excited about going to college together upon graduation. At 14, she met the love of her life while on a hayride, Stephen, the minister's son. She would be 17 before they actually dated. Many people thought they resembled John and Jackie Kennedy. While supporting her husband through college, they had four beautiful children. She then went back to school, herself, graduating cum laude with a teaching degree and a minor in library science, at UW-Platteville. They purchased their first home in Platteville, right next door to their best friends. She worked part-time a few years, as a substitute teacher but didn't find it fulfilling. She worked many years at Kmart and then Land's End, until her retirement. Upon her retirement, she filled her life with hobbies such as, researching her family genealogy and classes such as, water aerobics and tai chi where she made many longtime friends. She also loved the public library, reading, playing games, trivia and puzzles. She made sure that the public library received a Poinsettia or Christmas Cactus every holiday season. She loved flower gardening with a special passion for her many varieties of Hosta. It was very important to her that family, friends, and close acquaintances know she loved them dearly. Lenore married Stephen Virgil Brown, son of Rev Virgil Walter Brown and Gladys Olive McFall, on 27 May 1964 in Galena, IL. (Stephen Virgil Brown was born on 15 Nov 1940 in Downing, WI.)
