1. Obituary. Genevieve "Jenny" I. McCann, 85 of Oakdale, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at her home. She was born on June 9, 1932 to Anson E. and Clara (Barribeau) Whiting in Oconto County, WI. She was united in marriage to Edward "Jack" J. McCann on May 4, 1957. He preceded her in death on June 18, 2004. Together they lived in the Milwaukee area, then in Sun Prairie, before settling in Tomah in 1967. Jenny worked at the Tomah Department of Veteran Affairs for many years where she was awarded numerous pins and awards. After her retirement from the Tomah V.A. she worked with her husband at Jack McCann Construction Company. Jenny was an avid Green Bay Packers fan all of her life and was a nanny for Don Hutson in her younger years. She had a straight to the point personality and will be remembered for her one liner's. She was an excellent cook and will always be remembered for her Christmas Cookies that she would send. She was a faithful member of the Queen of the Apostle's Catholic Church at St. Mary's, and a member of the PCCW, and of the Hanson-Stark-Leith-Paeth Wilton American Legion Post #508 Ladies Auxiliary. Jenny was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she was always willing to help when someone needed help.

She is survived by, 6 children, Patricia McFarland (Fiancée Gary Phillips) of Black River Falls, Sharon (Tom) Schnese of Appleton, Paul (Mindy) of Tomah, Mary (Steve) Paul of Tomah, and Miki (Tom) Lewis of Winter Haven, FL, Ted (Eden) of Torrence, CA, a special friend who was like a daughter Judy Puffer of Millston, 15 grandchildren, Corey (Missy) McCann, Nick and Graham (Laura) Schnese, David (Wendy) Brister, Callie Jac' Brister, Christopher (Megan) McCann, Jordan (Michah) McCann, Jeffrey (Angela) Dupree, Katelyn (Derek) Belcher, Rachel Dupree, Jennifer (Jason) Homer, Joseph Paul, John, Haylie, Hannah, and Jacob McCann, 16 great-grandchildren, a sister Clara Belle Younger of Oconto, sisters and brothers-in-law Diane Whiting, Margaret (Tom) Poleck of Lewiston, ID, Dennis (Kim) of Footsville, and Sue (Tom) Buick of Grand Junction, CO, Jay (Donna) McCann of Clarkston, WA many other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, a son-in-law Steven Becker, brothers and sisters and their spouses John (Ceil) Tony, and Gene Whiting Liz, Rosie, and Mabel, and many brothers and sisters-in-law.

A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017, 10:30 A.M. at Queen of the Apostles Parish at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 321 West Monroe Street, Tomah. Monsignor Richard W. Gilles will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at the Sonnenburg Family Funeral Home, 801 E. Monowau Street, Tomah and on Thurs at the church from 9:30 A. M. until the time of the service. A Parish Rosary will be recited at the funeral home on Weds at 4:00 P.M.
