When Nicholas William Winters was born on 12 October 1837, in Oswego, New York, United States, his father, Peter Winter, was 34 and his mother, Catherine M. Cork, was 25. He married Mary McFall on 30 August 1857, in Grant, Wisconsin, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Page, Iowa, United States in 1895 and Buchanan Township, Page, Iowa, United States for about 10 years. He registered for military service in 1861. He died on 22 August 1913, in Iowa, United States, at the age of 75, and was buried in Braddyville Cemetery, Braddyville, Page, Iowa, United States.
