• Obituary. Dorothy H. Macke, age 96 of Lancaster, WI, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. She was born January 24, 1923 the daughter of Virgil and Ivah (Keene) Hoehn. Dorothy graduated from Lancaster High School in 1940. On February 10, 1945 she was united into marriage to Stanley C. Macke at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. Together they began their farming career with Stanley's parents in South Lancaster Township. Stanley and Dorothy later moved to her father's farm on the edge of town, which became a Century Farm in 2018, where they farmed until they retired. Dorothy was employed as a legal secretary and also worked as a bookkeeper for years at Farmer's Union Co-op, and Gurkow Implement. She enjoyed her many indoor and outdoor plants and flowers. Dorothy was an accomplished gardener, which allowed her to bake, cook and can for her family. She liked to knit, crochet and paint ceramics. Dorothy dearly loved traveling with cousins and keeping up with her family's activities.

Dorothy is survived by her four sons: James (Lois), John (Kathy), Mark (Mary Kay), and David (Diane) Macke; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded by her beloved husband Stanley in 1990.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, July 15, 2019 at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends may call on Monday, July 15, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home. In lieu of plants and flowers, a Dorothy H. Macke memorial fund has been established, with proceeds going to many local charities. The Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is serving the family.
