Noted events in her life were: • Obituary. Dorothy H. Macke, age 96 of Lancaster, WI, passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care in Lancaster. She was born January 24, 1923 the daughter of Virgil and Ivah (Keene) Hoehn. Dorothy graduated from Lancaster High School in 1940. On February 10, 1945 she was united into marriage to Stanley C. Macke at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. Together they began their farming career with Stanley's parents in South Lancaster Township. Stanley and Dorothy later moved to her father's farm on the edge of town, which became a Century Farm in 2018, where they farmed until they retired. Dorothy was employed as a legal secretary and also worked as a bookkeeper for years at Farmer's Union Co-op, and Gurkow Implement. She enjoyed her many indoor and outdoor plants and flowers. Dorothy was an accomplished gardener, which allowed her to bake, cook and can for her family. She liked to knit, crochet and paint ceramics. Dorothy dearly loved traveling with cousins and keeping up with her family's activities. Dorothy married Stanley Clarence Macke, son of Clarence Henry Macke and Vera Carolyn Burr, on 10 Feb 1945 in Lancaster, WI, First Presbyterian Church. (Stanley Clarence Macke was born on 2 Feb 1922, died on 17 Sep 1990 and was buried in Lancaster, WI, Hillside Cemetery.) |
