1. Obituary. Services Held on July 5 For Mrs. Al Fowler

Mabel Stickney was born at Camp Douglas on April 15, 1877, and died at the Mauston hospital July 2, 1940, at the age of 63 years, two months, and 17 days.

When but a very small child her parents moved to this vicinity and she spent her entire life in Mather.

On April 21, 1900, she married William Fowler and they went to live on the Appleton marsh, where their only child, Clayton, was born in 1905.

In 1908 they moved to the William's cranberry marsh, where Mr. Fowler was manager and stockholder for 27 years. In 1935 they bought a marsh and built a home and there they lived until February 11, 1940, when Mr. Fowler was called in death. Since that time Mrs. Fowler has been a patient sufferer, never complaining.

Mrs. Fowler has always taken a keen interest in all the joys and sorrows of the Mather community and was an active member in the Ladies' Aid, having been president for several years. She was a devoted neighbor and loving friend, who will be greatly missed by her host of friends.

She is survived by her son, Clayton, three grandchildren, Virgil, Donald and Harold, a step-mother, Mrs. Stickney, four sisters, Della, Mrs. Doe, Cover, Oregon; Myrtle, Mrs. Horner, Newport, Washington; Kitty, Mrs. Lynch, Grants Pass, Oregon; Maud, Mrs. Grimshaw, Mather, Wisconsin; and one brother, Leslie Stickney, Sand Point, Idaho. Besides her immediate family and relatives, she leaves a wide circle of acquaintances and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from the community hall at Mather on Friday afternoon, July 5, at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Dr. A. E. Fredericks officiating. Burial was made in the Mather cemetery.
