Evelyn O'Connor, age 83, of Warrens, Wisconsin, passed away Saturday, October 2, 2010, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was born March 16, 1927, to Everett and Sylvia (Skinner) Ludke in the Town of Plainfield, Juneau County, Wisconsin.

Evelyn was a homemaker most of her life. Prior to meeting her husband, Lano, she worked at Fort McCoy during World War II. She was united in marriage to Lano O'Connor June 1, 1946. She also worked for the Tomah Healthcare Center and drove a school bus.

Evelyn was a lifetime member at the First United Methodist Church. She taught Sunday school at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Valley Junction and also when they moved to the First United Methodist Church in Tomah. She was very outgoing and had no trouble making friends. Visiting with people and telling stories was one of her favorite pastimes. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Lano; her son, Gail (Sammy Raide) O'Connor of Waukegan, IL; daughter-in-law, Sue O'Connor of Tomah, WI; granddaughter, Theresa (Jonathan) Amberson of Norwalk, WI; great grandson, Quincy Amberson of Norwalk, WI; a brother, Donald (Julie) Ludke of Tomah, WI; two sisters, Jenny (Eithmer) Lamb of High Springs, FL and Betty Warslowski of Richland Center, WI; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, William O'Connor; two brothers, Robert and Everett "Jr" Ludke.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 6, 2010, 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Tomah. Pastor William Swan will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wood Cemetery, rural Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorials may be given to the First United Methodist Church in memory of Evelyn. The Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements.
