1. Obituary. ARRENS \emdash Lano O'Connor, 92, of Warrens passed away Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at Morrow Home in Sparta.
He was born Nov. 24, 1920, to Grover and Alice (Kinder) O'Connor in the town of Byron, Monroe County, Wisconsin. Lano was a World War II veteran, serving in the in the United States Army, 10th Armored Division 712th until he was injured in Fulda, Germany.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Ludke on June 1, 1946. Lano spent his working years at the Tomah VA and also owned and operated a cranberry marsh with his son, William "Bill".
He is survived by his son, Gail (Sammy Readdie) O'Connor of Waukegan, Ill.; daughter-in-law, Sue O'Connor of Tomah; granddaughter, Theresa (Jonathan) Amberson of Norwalk, Wis.; two great-grandsons, Quincy and Henry Amberson of Norwalk, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Mary O'Connor of Idaho; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn; his son, William "Bill"; siblings, Grover Jr., Alvin, Jesse and an infant sister.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First United Methodist in Tomah. Pastor William Swan will officiate. Burial with full military honors by the Tomah VFW #1382 will follow in Wood Cemetery, rural Tomah. Family and friends are invited for visitation Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Torkelson Funeral Home of Tomah is assisting the family with arrangements. Lano married Evelyn Ludke, daughter of Everett Willliam Ludke and Sylvia Mae Skinner, on 1 Jun 1946. (Evelyn Ludke was born on 16 Mar 1927, died on 2 Oct 2010 and was buried on 6 Oct 2010 in Tomah, WI, Wood Cemetery.)
