1. Obituary. Julia Ludke, age 75, of Tomah, Wisconsin, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at her home. She was born December 3, 1941, to Walter and Madalynne (Stahl) Welch in Cook County, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Donald Ludke on August 25, 1973.

Julie worked at the Tomah VA Medical Center for over 25 years, starting as a nurse's aide and retiring as secretary in the social work department. In her younger years, she enjoyed dancing. Throughout her life she loved canning, sewing, gardening, crocheting, reading, and going to the casino. She enjoyed her time with her family on camping trips and playing cards. More than anything, Julie loved her family and cherished time spent with them.

She is survived by her children, Sylvia (Roy) Gunn of Camp Douglas, WI, Joseph (Barbara) Taylor of Tomah, WI and Penny Collins of Tomah, WI, grandchildren, Justin Corley, Jane (Jay) Applegate, Nikki (Seth) Winrich, Joe Holmes, Michael Balliet, Elizabeth (Tylor) Atha, Tyler Slater, Cassondra Slater and Curtis Bobholz and great grandchildren, Taylor, Mason and Easton Winrich, Emmon Eades, Maddi and Samuel Applegate, Josiah Loendorf, Jordan Atha and baby Atha due in February, her brother and sisters, James (Mary) Welch of Madison, WI, Barbara Brown of Warrens, WI, Sherry (Paul) Baldwin of Warrens, WI and Betty (Phillip) Braman of Warrens, WI, a sister-in-law, Jennie Lamb of Florida, WI, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Donald, her sister, Lois Roberts, a brother, Joseph Welch, brothers-in-law, Eithmer Lamb, Everette Ludke and Robert Ludke, sisters-in-law, Betty Wesoloski and Evelyn O'Connor.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 20, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah. Daren DeFord will officiate. Burial will follow in the Wood Cemetery, Tomah, Wisconsin. Family and friends are invited for visitation Monday, December 19, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Tomah.
