1. Miscellaneous. Henry M Winter was born at Platteville, Wis., Sept. 19th. 1871 and died at his home in Sheldon on February 7th, 1920. being at the time of his demise 49 years, 4 months and 19 days old Funeral services were held at this home at 2:30 Monday and at the Congregational church at 3 o'clock in charge of Rev. H. O. Allen. Interment was made In the East Lawn cemetery. When about nine years of age, Mr. Winters camo to Alta, Iowa, with his parents. December 22, 1878 he was married to Miss May Groff of Aurelia. Until the fall of 1900 Mr. Winters worked on the farm for his father, and after coming to town he worked for four years for James Merrill and 13 years for H. Hunger. For several years he was employed at the Sheldon Creamery until his health broke down. He became slowly worse and in spite of all that loving hands and hearts could do he passed to the higher, brighter world above. He leaves to mourn his loss an aged mother, two sisters, Mrs. Art Groff of Sheldon; Mrs. Wm. Burns of Sioux City, and one brother L.E Winter of Sioux City. Those who attended the funeral from out of town are Mrs. Wm. Burns and daughter Margaret and L. E. Winters of Sioux City, Miss Inez and Will Groff of Aurelia, and Mrs. Jake Groff and James Groff and K.L. Henry was the son of Henry H. and Mary (Polly) Burkholder Winters. He married Mae E. Groff on December 22, 1898 in Alta, IA.
