1. Obituary. Royal, age 79, of Platteville died at his home. He was born on Sept. 20, 1924, in rural Grant County, WI, the son of Hobart and Florence (Steinhoff) Wills. Royal graduated from Belmont High School in 1942.
Royal was united in marriage to Frieda Glanzman on Oct. 1, 1944, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Darlington.
He owned and operated Wills Implement Company, an International Harvester dealership in Elizabeth, IL, from 1948-1951. In 1952, he moved to their farm south of Belmont. In 1990, he retired from farming and moved to Platteville. He was a member of the Pleasant View school board, Belmont Dairy Coop, Lafayette County Oil Company, Elk Grove Town Board, Lafayette County Farm Bureau, and served on the Grant County Board of Supervisors from April 1996 until the time of his death. He also drove school bus for the Belmont School District, served as a tractor leader for the Pleasant View 4-H club, and served 15 years on the Lafayette County ASCS committee.
Royal was a lifelong member of First English Lutheran Church, Platteville, where he also served on the church council.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and their wives, a daughter, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a sister and her husband.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on April 8, 2004, at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Royal married Frieda Glanzman, daughter of Alfred Glanzman and Emma, on 1 Oct 1944 in Darlington, WI, Immanuel United Church of Christ. (Frieda Glanzman was born on 13 Apr 1924, died on 10 Jan 2025 and was buried in Platteville, WI, Greenwood Cemetery.)
