Frieda Glanzman

1. Obituary. Frieda G. Wills, 100, formerly of Platteville/Belmont, passed away peacefully January 10, 2025, at Meadows Assisted Living and Memory Care in Spring Green, WI. She was born April 13, 1924, at home in Browntown, WI, the third of four daughters to Alfred and Emma Glanzman, first generation immigrants from Switzerland in the early 1900's. She was united in marriage to Royal Wills on October 1, 1944, and shared over 59 years together until his death April 5, 2004.
She learned sewing, embroidery and crocheting talents from her mother and self-taught on many other sewing, quilting and needle crafts. Frieda was a meticulous housekeeper and took pride in her baking, flowers, garden and yard. Her hands were never idle. She also enjoyed exhibiting her talents at local and county fairs as well as working at the fairs, elections and Lands' End.
Frieda was a member of card clubs and active in 4-H, Homemakers Club, church and social activities. She was a long-time member of First English Lutheran Church in Platteville and was a member of several committees there.
She is survived by her children, Larry Wills, O'Fallon, MO, Dale (Cindy) Wills, Belmont, WI, and Jean (Tom McGuire) Wills, Mineral Point, WI. She is further survived by 5 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, 5 step-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters and brothers-in-law Rose (Duane) Beach, Margaret (Burnett) Kubly, Helen (Donald) Monson, sister-in-law Marian (Willard) Voigts, daughters-in-law Mickie Wills and Sandra (Wills) Day, and step-granddaughter Stacy McGuire.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 18, 2025, at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.
