1. Obituary. Veva Larita Manthei, 94, of Forreston, died Monday, October 12, 2015 in her home. She was born October 11, 1921 in Apple River, IL (Rush Township). She was the daughter of Harry Clarence Sigafus, Sr. and Mary Belle (Metcalf) Sigafus. She married Robert E. Manthei on October 28, 1967; he preceded her in death on March 11, 2001. She was a member of Prairie Dell Presbyterian Church.

Veva is survived by her three sons and two daughters, and one brother (all living, information remains private.)Veva was the proud grandmother to eleven grandchildren; great-grandmother to twenty; and great-great-grandmother to four. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five brothers Charlie (living wife), Earl (living wife), Gordon, (living wife), Mike (Genevieve), Richard (Carol); and five sisters Carol (living husband) Meier, Dolly (Paul) Siemens, Eleanor (Charles) Williams, Harriet (Ralph) Fryer, Helen (Gerald) Fox, and Violet (Lyle) Hammer.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Saturday October 17, 2015 at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until the time of service. Veva married Ray Quentin Gollmer, son of Walter John Gollmer and Elsie May Bentley, on 22 Nov 1939 in Dubuque, IA. (Ray Quentin Gollmer was born on 30 Mar 1920 in Apple River, IL and died on 31 Oct 2010.)
