Virgil was a graduate of Taylor University in Upland IN. H e pastored in United Methodist Churches at Whig (rural Plat teville), Clearmont and Hanna, WY; Downing, Argyle, Pepin , Deer Park, Boscobel, and Shullsburg, WI before retiring i n 1971. He then became the visitation pastor at 1st Unite d Methodist Church in Madison and then in Boscobel.

Virgil married Gladys Olive McFall, daughter of George Elwood McFall and Eunice Jane Gollmer, on 23 Oct 1937 in Buffalo, WY.
