• Obituary: Platteviille Journal. Paul J Brown

Paul Joseph Brown, 72, passed away in his sleep on Feb. 10.

Paul was born on June 16, 1948, in Red Wing, Minn. He was born to a Methodist Minister's family and was raised in the church. Over his life time, he lived in Pepin, Deer Park, Shullsburg, Boscobel and Platteville, all in Wisconsin.

Paul was a very pleasant personality who loved to be with people. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and relatives, working jigsaw puzzles, watching movies, reading novels, and listening to music.

He began working at a very young age, cleaning the church with his brothers. He first job outside the church was with a grocery store in Shullsburg. He also worked in several cheese factories that were a common sight in Wisconsin when he was younger. He later worked at Dick's grocery in Platteville and cleaned the Whig UMC Church just outside of Platteville. He most recently worked as a handyman for his cousin, Mark McFall's Auto Repair Shop in Platteville.

He had always lived with his parents, providing help in their aging years. After his mother's passing in 1989, he moved into his own apartment in Platteville the remainder of his life until admitted to the nursing home due to advanced lymphoma.

He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Brown; his mother, Gladys Brown; and sisters-in-law, Joann Brown (David) and Lenore Brown (Stephen).

Paul is survived by his brothers, David Brown, Stephen Brown and Philip Brown (Anna); many nieces and nephews, Derek, Jeremy and Justin (David Brown) and Susan Robinson, Peter Brown, Amy Brown and Christopher Brown (Stephen Brown).

There will be no formal funeral at this time. Memorial details are not yet available.
