He married Johanna Tantow in 1853, in Germany. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 3 January 1913, in Potosi, Grant, Wisconsin, United States, at the age of 84, and was buried in Van Buren Cemetery, Potosi, Grant, Wisconsin, United States.

3. Obituary: Grant County Herald, WI, 8 Jan 1913. William Koeller, a highly esteemed old citizen of the town of Potosi died at the home of his son Fritz Koeller Friday afternoon, Jan. 3d, aged 84 years and seven months. The funeral was held Monday forenoon and internment made in the Van Burne cemetery. Services were held in the Congregational Church, Rev W. T. Price officiating.
