1. Obituary. Elizabeth May "Betty" Shepherd, 94, died Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City.

She was born July 31, 1922, to John Carl and Blanche Potter. She graduated from Hanover High School in Hanover, Ill., in 1940.

On March 8, 1947, she married Bill Shepherd. He died in 2010.

Mrs. Shepherd was employed at the Savanna Army Depot until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of the Hanover Methodist Community Church and a 50-plus year member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Survivors include a daughter, Jamie Seitz of Pine Springs, Minn.; a son, Bill, and his wife Rita (Jones) Shepherd of Garden City; four grandchildren, Max and Abbey Seitz, and Sarah and Audrey Shepherd; a sister, Maxine "Mickey" Vanderheyden; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at the Law Jones Funeral Home in Hanover at 10 a.m. Thursday, with the service to follow at 11 a.m.

Interment will take place after the service at the Hanover Evergreen Cemetery, with a luncheon afterwards at the Hanover VFW.

Elizabeth married William Ernest Shepherd, son of Ernest William Shepherd and Amey Redmond, on 8 Mar 1947. (William Ernest Shepherd was born on 10 Jun 1924 in Dubuque, IA, died on 14 Jan 2010 in Hanover, Jo Daviess County, IL and was buried in Hanover, Jo Daviess County, IL, Evergreeen Cemetery.)
