1. Obituary: Platteville, WI, Melby Funeral Home. Alice L. Shaw, 80 of Platteville, Wisconsin, formerly of Richland Center, Wisconsin finished her earthly journey Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Lancaster Health Services.

Born in Boscobel, Wisconsin on January 29, 1942, Alice was the first child of Oscar and Olive (Clark) Coe. She was preceded in death by infant brothers, John and Lanny. On December 6, 1963 she was married to Lyle McFall, a farmer from Potosi, Wisconsin, who's family included his ten children. Lyle preceded Alice in death in 1986.

Through World Vision Alice became a foster care giver for Grant County. During this time two foster sisters became part of the family.

On February 14, 1988 she was united in marriage to Jerry Shaw, leaving the farm and moving to Richland Center, Wisconsin. Alice enjoyed traveling and being a member of the Woodman Button Club. Collecting buttons developed into vast collections of vintage buttons, miniature books, cuff links and belt buckles.

Alice was always looking for an opportunity to serve other in whatever capacity needed to. To quote her "The best decision I ever made over 60 years ago was to serve the Lord. It is true, He gives beauty for ashes and songs in the night."

Alice is survived by her husband, Jerry; brother-in-law, Russell, his wife, Dena and their families. Her large four generational step-family including the youngest children, Kay (Doug) Bennett of Platteville, Kitty (Dan) Soman of Livingston; foster children, Carol McWilliams, Natalie Salgado and Tony Nihles, and a host of other friends.

She wishes one last Thank you to her girls who have helped so much. The wonderful care given by St. Croix Hospice, Dr. Anna, Lancaster Health Services, Stephanie and also to ADRC, Kelsey and Sarah her case workers. Most of all a special THANKS to Jerry who was the kindest, best and most faithful caregiver a Sylvia Sue could ever have. Lighten Up, Sam!

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July13, 2022 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Burial will be at Willow Valley Cemetery, rural Richland Center. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.
