Lyle's life was filled with love for his children. God also blessed Lyle with thirty-four grandchildren, including Brenda McFall who preceded him in death; and seven great-grandchildren.
On Monday evening, December 8, 1986, after a long illness, God granted Lyle his final wish, to die at home, surrounded by his loving family. Lyle will be long remembered for his enthusiastic life style, his love for youth and his family's Christian generosity. His robust laugh and slap on the knee not only entertained his grandchildren but raised the spirits of anyone present.

Lyle married Grace Jeanette Russell, daughter of John Wayne Russell and Mae Lina Culver, on 18 Dec 1935 in Nashua, IA, Little Brown Church. (Grace Jeanette Russell was born on 22 Apr 1916 in Harrison Township, Grant County, WI, died on 2 Apr 1962 in Potosi, WI and was buried in Platteville, WI, Greenwood Cemetery.)
